Network Support Manager, London £40K - £45K
The Network Support Managers role is to ensure the availability, stability and integrity of in-house voice and data network services. This will be achieved by supporting, monitoring, optimizing and where appropriate developing the local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization.
Key duties and responsibilities
High level understanding of network topology, infrastructure and maintenance.
Appreciation and understanding of networks, wireless networks and connectivity
protocols, including TCPIP.
Experience of building and analysing complex network structures, preferably with
CISCO equipment.
Ability to build, configure and maintain servers. An understanding of SCSI, RAID and
IDE disk structures and sub-systems.
High level understanding of security issues, including encryption, IPsec, SSL, and
hardware and software firewalls.
Experience and high level understanding of implementing and maintaining Windows
network operating systems, including Windows 2003, Windows 2008 Active Directory
and group policy.
Experience and high level understanding of implementing and maintaining Microsoft
Exchange Server 2003.
Understanding of database principles and high level experience of implementing and
maintaining Microsoft SQL server 2005 and 2008.
Ability to produce and refine technical documentation for use by all IT staff.
Experience of implementing mobile information systems on various platforms using
availability technology.
Experience of configuring and installing complex software products on both server and
workstation
A working knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems and server support
High level understanding and experience of backups systems, including disk based and
tape library systems.
To resolve 2nd/3rd line technical problems passed on by the client Helpdesk staff.
To manage the firms remote connectivity, including the Citrix Xenapps system, RSA
tokens and OWA, mobile data cards and mobile access to information via PDAs and
other devices.
To monitor network traffic and activity and produce best practise procedures for network
traffic management.
To manage the firms SSL certification
To apply appropriate security and update patches across all programs and operating
systems as and when required.
Experience of working in a fast paced technical environment
Education and Qualifications:
Education to Degree level in a technology related discipline desirable.
CISCO CCNA essential. CCNP or CCIE desirable
Microsoft MCSE qualifications or part thereof essential
Please note this position requires someone with hands-on infrastructure support experience rather than man-management.
