Systems Engineer – Win Servers 2003/2008
The role is to primarily support and management of our internal infrastructure. This includes, a complete windows infrastructure with multiple servers running different roles, 2008 & 2003 Servers, Exchange, IIS, WSUS, DPM, SQL and many others. The Infrastructure runs on a combination of physical servers and our Virtual Platform.
The role's main responsibilities will consist of performing the day to day tasks that are associated with maintaining this infrastructure and working on the proactive development of it. You will also be required to answer both IT and user queries, to undertake problem solving/troubleshooting, hardware installation, software installation and systems administration tasks as well as some project work which may include attending client sites.
Job Requirements
• MCSE qualified and experience of 3 years +
• Deployment of Windows Servers 2003/2008, and 3rd line infrastructure support.
• Strong working experience with MS Windows servers, including Exchange and SQL.
• Experience with managing and maintaining WSUS.
• Working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as DNS, DHCP,
VLANS and other general networking technologies.
• Working with physical Servers, configuring RAID, installing DRAC cards etc.
• Good working experience from installing, configuring and maintaining backup software.
• Experience with installing and configuring AV products for large networks, including
rolling out the client to multiple machines. Should have experience with at least one of
the following products, Trend, Symantec, McAfee or Sophos.
Additional Skills that will be an advantage
• Experience with SQL, installing backing up restoring and general maintenance.
• Knowledge of Altiris NS server and Deployment Server.
• Any knowledge of imaging software such as Symantec ghost.
Personal Skills
• Need to be self motivated, proactive and have a desire to work with new technologies.
• Good communication skills with both colleagues and customers.
• To take responsibility for your own work including the prioritisation of tasks and goals.
