Senior Technical Author Hertfordshire , £50k-£65k + outstanding bens

A superb permanent role has become available for a top caliber client based in Hertfordshire. The client specialises in high-performance IT/telecoms solutions in defense, wireless mobile and broadband communications.

Title: Senior Technical Author
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £50k - £65k negotiable (Please state your preferred salary) + excellent benefits (private BUPA Healthcare, Pension schemes, life insurance, individual/company bonuses, etc)

An excellent Technical Author is required to write customer facing documentation in the form of printed or electronic media and produce artwork for use on manual covers, CD-ROMS and CD-ROM packaging to the appropriate company guidelines.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:
* Writing documentation for new products and product updates.
* Liaising with the various project teams to ensure documentation is correct and fit for purpose.
* Preparing information packages to be written onto CDs for customer manuals.
* Preparing CD and CD packaging material artworks to be used for production.
* Formatting documents to provide a uniform look and feel.
* With support from the development team, use and become familiar with the Company products and software applications.

Requirements:
Candidates should have solid experience of technical authoring within a software orientated environment and ideally have a background in engineering with relevant software/programming skills.

A good understanding of software use and installation is required along with experience of Framemaker and Webworks, with any additional knowledge of similar software being advantageous. Applicants should be self-motivated and possess good computer literacy skills, including the MS Office applications, whilst have an organized and methodical approach to tasks with the ability to prioritize a variable workload with conflicting demands on time.

Attention to detail and good communication skills, both written and verbal are essential and candidates should have the ability to liaise, extract and collate relevant information from project teams and translate this engineering text into high-quality customer facing documentation.
