A superb permanent role has become available for a top caliber client based in Hertfordshire. The client specialises in high-performance IT/telecoms solutions in defense, wireless mobile and broadband communications.

Title: Technical Consultant (WCDMA)
Location: Hertfordshire
Salary: £60k - £70k + excellent benefits (private BUPA Healthcare, Pension schemes, life insurance, individual/company bonuses, etc)

Our client requires a Technical Consultant to take responsibility for all aspects of an assigned development project, you should be able to take on the role as technical leader supporting the development of their mobile test product line; with emphasis on wireless communication issues, system definition, implementation support and test teams.

Whilist working in conjunction with the Project Manager and Team Leaders, the Technical Architect will be responsible for ensuring the development process is efficient, and that the optimum development and diagnostic tools are being used.

Main duties, experience and responsibilities to include:
* System design of a sub set of the product or the entire product.
* The candidate must have a good understanding of digital communications, signal processing, general programming techniques, 3GPP WCDMA, and 3GPP LTE (desirable).
* The candidate must have experience of full product life cycle development, C language and programming skills, familiar with VHDL, strong system engineering knowledge, thorough knowledge of Digital system and circuit design, and hardware development.

Requirements:
Candidates should have an excellent university degree in electronics engineering, telecommunications engineering, digital signal processing or a similar discipline plus relevant work experience with an understanding of digital communication systems.

The individual must have vast experience in mobile communications systems, alongside real-time DSP, WCDMA Rel 6 or above expertise.
Good understanding and appreciation of C, Microsoft office tools proficient in lab equipment use (VSA, SMIQ, MS8608A), WCDMA knowledge for generating test vectors. 3GPP Higher and lower layer experience would be ideal.
Good understanding of Cellular/3G is necessary incorporating the following technologies: MIMO, OFDM, WCDMA, FEC.

The candidate must be of a senior staff level, and line management experience for a small technical team is a plus but not mandatory. Team leading experience is a plus, but is not mandatory.
